Ginny's P.O.R.C.H Foundation, Inc.
In 2021 Dr. Sonya Strider founded Ginny’s P.O.R.C.H Foundation, Inc., following the devastating loss of both of her parents. Named after the Place Of Refuge, Comfort, and Hope that was her mother’s front porch for family and friends for more than 40 years, Dr. Strider and her team are dedicated to ushering the healing properties of her mother’s front porch into the foundation’s activities and events.
Ginny’s P.O.R.C.H Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating space and opportunity for women of color to explore, heal, and thrive amidst grief and loss. We recognize that Black women face unique challenges and experiences in their grief journeys, and we are committed to addressing those specific needs. We foster a supportive community that understands, validates, and uplifts Black women's experiences. Through culturally sensitive programs, resources, and advocacy, we aim to empower Black women to navigate their grief with resilience, reclaim their joy, and reclaim their identities. We strive to provide a safe and inclusive environment where Black women can heal, find solace, and celebrate the strength and resilience within their communities.
Together, we honor the legacies of our loved ones, support each other through the healing process, and work towards collective healing and empowerment.

The Empowered Hope Scholarship

Ginny's P.O.R.C.H Foundation, Inc. is committed to empowering women to be the best they can be. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to pursue their dreams.
In alignment with this mission, the Empowered Hope Scholarship is dedicated to supporting African American women who are healing from loss and striving to rebuild their lives through education.
The Empowered Hope Scholarship provides a $1,000 scholarship to help ease some of the financial strain of pursuing higher education. This scholarship is designed to encourage resilience and provide an opportunity for women to take the next step toward achieving their goals. This scholarship will be awarded to an applicant pursuing a vocational trade, bachelor's degree, or a professional certificate.
By investing in these women, Ginny's P.O.R.C.H Foundation, Inc. aims to honor their strength, foster their growth, and help pave their path to a brighter future.
